Carmel Baptist Church
Family
Ministry at Carmel is comprised of two key components, what we like to call
MarriedLife and FamilyLife. The reason for this focus is that we believe that
life change takes place through relationships. Two of the most influential relationships
are husband / wife and parent / child.
With MarriedLife we focus on three specific seasons of a marriage relationship.
These seasons include premarital, avoiding complacency and getting through crisis.
We summarize these as Prepare, Enrich and Protect.
In Prepare, it is our desire to team with couples who are engaged or who are
looking at becoming engaged and walking with them pre and post-marriage. In Enrich,
it is our desire to take couples who desire to take their marriage to the next
level. These could be couples who are dealing with no issues or slight issues
such as juggling the “mom and dad” hats vs. the “husband and
wife” hats to dealing with communication or finances and everything in-between.
In Protect, we try to come along beside a couple who have reached an escalated
or critical crossroads in their relationship. We help couples take the focus
on the spouse being the issue and focusing more on whatever the real issue might
be so that divorce is removed as an option or at least put on the backburner.
With FamilyLife we work with our Pre-School, Children and Student Ministries
to train and equip the parents in how to leverage their parental / relational
influence. It is our belief that parents are the number one influence in the
life of their child and the church can become the greatest influence in the life
of the parent. We are here to help the parents leverage their influence in the
life of their child. By teaming with the parents we are able to have a combined
influence in the life of the child where two combined influences are greater
than two individual influences.
Four key areas we focus our parent training around are make a plan and know
where you are headed by mapping your direction, molding the environment for change,
making memories to pass on values, and finally recognize and celebrate key milestones.
We use two key environments to impact the family. One being an interactive parent
focused training and the other being a family experience, which is an interactive
family focused training.
The Message at Carmel remains strong, solid and the same. However, Carmel
is not afraid of change in order for our presentation and environments to remain
relevant. Family Ministry at Carmel is dedicated to building life changing relationships
realizing that it is the greatest impact for Christ we can make on those in our
ministry and future generations.
